When circumstances suddenly change. When there is a sudden sharp bend on the road you’re traveling. When you’re forced to take a detour. When things go haywire and your first instinct is to run and hide. You look around you but the only way forward is forward. God is trying to get your attention.
God is speaking to you in the midst.
He speaks through chaos. Because He is in the chaos. You only need to turn aside and listen. Don’t get carried off by the whirlwind. Listen. What is He saying to you? Don’t get drowned in the confusion. Pay attention. There is a message for you in the chaos. Don’t get sucked into the circling vortex. Stand. God is in the midst. He is your center. Locate your center and stand.
Naomi was right in the middle of devastation when she heard God. Not in a vision. Not in a dream. Not in a sermon either. But in her circumstance. Moab to her was a land that swallowed up its inhabitants. It had swallowed up all she had. But instead of giving in she gave heed to the still small voice speaking in the midst.
God is saying something with all that is happening. Can you hear His voice in the midst?
Ruth 1:7 She (Naomi) left the place where she was with her two daughters-in-law and took the road leading back to Judah.
