The remember series continue. Again, I will be sharing from my 2015 archive; my December 24th post. It was originally titled: About Three Kings, Three Gifts, and a day to Christmas. Be blessed.
Well, the bible does not specifically say that the wise men from the East were actually three in number. However, we do know that the bible says they brought three gifts... and of course, we all agree it is Christmas day.
Christmas in itself is said to have a pagan tradition. It was never mentioned in the bible neither is there any record in the bible about the celebration of the birth of Christ on any specific day. Still, here we are, celebrating this one most significant date of the year.
And this morning, I am thinking about the three gifts which the wise men presented as gifts to the child Jesus. And how they bowed down and worshipped Him. I am thinking about how many days it must have taken them to travel down to Bethlehem after they had seen His star in the East.
I am thinking about the preparations they made, as they prepared to travel; how they carefully selected their gifts and mounted their camels. It is speculated that Jesus may have been about 2-9months when they arrived. Others say He may have been as old as 2 years considering the decree Herod gave to have all 2year olds and below slain.
So I’m thinking about the collage of fate and destiny that constantly circles our existence. How that it seems nothing is in order, yet everything is written and pre-ordered. How there can be chaos and worship, coexisting within the same time block. How nothing that we would ever need to fulfil our destiny can or would ever not come at the time appointed. Even though chaos may seem to clash with the time of the blessing.
Only be joyful. Only be expectant. Knowing that the impending chaos or danger, as well as the desired blessing, have both been written by the same hand.
So it is Christmas day today — according to the traditions of men, a significant date in our history — and you maybe weathering gale storms and tornadoes, or struggling with lack and certain difficulties. Be of good cheer. Look again, there is a blessing in the storm. Peace in the chaos. Joy in sorrow. And all have been written to work for your good.
Isaiah 61:3
To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the LORD has planted for his own glory. - NLT
