Bonjour,

On the 17th of February this year, I was in Jos and around 6.43 am, I heard these words very clearly and audibly — The Running Water of the Lord. Immediately I woke up and documented the word. Having studied Geography in school, my mind began to process the phrase “Running Water.” While I wondered what God might be trying to tell me.

Running water erodes the rocks along its path and over a period of time, shapes the landscape.

As I heard it, I saw running water along a rocky terrain with a bubbling spot along its course. That bubbling spot was a spring— with water gushing from the ground. Running water has a source. Its source is from the mountain top.

I still do not have a full understand of this word but I will share the conviction in my heart. Also, I am sharing this because we have been talking about wellsprings, the River of God, living water etc. And so, when I came across this journal entry last night, I decided I will share it.

First off, who is God’s running water? It is the Holy Spirit. Hallelujah! It is the Holy Spirit, flowing from the mountain top; the source — God’s headwaters— that flows over the rocky terrain of men’s hearts. He erodes and reshapes the landscape of our lives.

Matthew 13:1, 5 …Behold a sower went out to sow… some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil…

These rocky places refers to the hearts of men— hardened by unbelief. Unbelief hardens your heart and makes the seed of the word unproductive in your life.

Hebrews 3:12, 15 See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful unbelieving heart that turns away from the Lord… As has just been said: “Today, if you hear His voice, do not Harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.”

Matthew 13:20-21 …this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy, yet he has no root in himself, but endures for a while…for when tribulation arises…immediately he stumbles.

But when The Running Water of the Lord flows over that rocky terrain, the heart of stone will be taken away and the heart of flesh will be given. What this means is that if you yield to the Holy Spirit, you can have a change of heart.

Ezekiel 36:25-26 I will sprinkle clean water upon you and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.

NLT says: … I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.

When we don’t respond to God in obedience and by faith (belief in what we cannot see) our hearts become hardened. But as we yield to the Holy Spirit— The Running Water of the Lord, we undergo a surgery — the stony heart is removed and a tender, responsive heart of flesh is given.

Say this prayer: “Lord, I yield to your Running Water! I receive a heart of flesh. I receive a tender, responsive heart, in Jesus name!”
