Check it out: Luke 5:4-5
Simon Peter and the other fishermen had toiled all night and hadn’t caught a single thing.
After all they had done, Peter and co probably just wanted to sleep, and here was this Jesus guy, telling them to do the grueling work of fishing all over again. Let’s face it; Peter ‘knew’ what he was doing. Come on people, the old guy was a pro with a Master in Fishery. Yet, this carpenter guy (with no fishing experience whatsoever) was telling ‘Peter the Pro’ how to fish.
Peter surprises us with his reply. He said, “Although I’ve worked hard, although I’ve tried, and although I’m tired and disappointed BUT because YOU (the son of God, the ruler of heaven and earth, the creator of the sh and the sea) say so, I will let down the nets.” That was faith. Peter was saying in essence that ‘although it makes no sense to me, I’m willing to do what God says.’
Perhaps like Peter, you’ve let down your nets all night and you’ve caught nothing. You’ve kept praying for that baby or for that dream job, yet nothing. You’re tired, you’ve packed up your nets, and you’ve given up.
Jesus is saying to you today, “Put out into deep water and let down the nets for a catch.” Try one more time, don’t give up, don’t give in to the devil’s taunts and whispers, keep praying and let God WOW you.
Guess what happened when Peter let down his nets?
The Bible says, when they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.
Peter got a miracle (I’d like to call it a net-breaking miracle). Your nets will be full too, if you dare to launch out again at his word.
Simply remember: Now faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not seen (Hebrews 11:1).
Yours in love, MOI
