January has gradually come to a close. What a long draggy month this was… or is it just me? In a way I liked it. I’m sorta thankful for how January crawled through its term. Gave me time to think, plan and be prepared for the remaining months in this first quarter.
So let’s do a review. How did January go for you? Or should I say how well did you do with those resolutions of yours? The other day I was telling a friend in an email, that I too didn’t have any resolutions, so he should relax, he is not alone.
But something happened last night that made me rethink. So I wrote down three promises (I feel like the word resolution is jinxed so promise it’s gonna be for me). One, I promised to complete a short story project I began in 2014 (I’ve just been sucking up on the juices of the first chapter. Time to move on!). Two, I promised to pick up where I left off, writing columns frequently for two of my magazine clients (they represent my days of small beginnings, I don’t want to lose the opportunity to grow). Three, I made a promise to myself to be rich (I realise that wealth is the key to expansion and to having great impact in all spheres of life. So I better get to work).
Thankfully I have 11 months of promise-keeping to do. Thanks too to turtle-crawling-January. Now your turn: Make a promise to yourself. You can share it with us here at The More Abundant Life forum by simply clicking reply and telling us what your promise to yourself is. And the rest of us will pray along with you.
Resolutions may fail but a promise is a debt and pay you must. So get on with it!
Ecclesiastes 5:5
It is better not to make a promise than to make one and not keep it. - GWD
It is better not to make a vow than to make one and not fulfill it. - NIV
And it is much better not to vow, than after a vow not to perform the things promised. - DRB
