"Trust in God"
Are you going through a difficult time? Are you being harassed or facing a difficult situation? Are you being pushed to the wall repeatedly by opposing forces? Are the storms raging?
Do not let your heart be troubled… Trust in God. There can be peace in the center of the storm. Only turn your gaze away from the situation and place it on Jesus.
Isaiah 26:3 You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast because they trust in you.
If you’re weathering a turbulent situation this scripture brings so much comfort, meditate on it. Say it repeatedly to yourself in the place of prayer and you will soon feel the dark clouds lift and sail far, far away. I like what the following verse says, so powerful:
Isaiah 26:4 Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord Himself, is the Rock eternal.
The Rock Eternal! That is what keeps you steadfast in the center of the storm. It is not your status, not your bank account balance, not your encyclopedia of knowledge, not your connections… but Jesus Himself, the Rock of our salvation.
And you know, the definition for steadfast is quite interesting and very enlightening too: Steadfast means to be resolute, dutifully firm and unwavering. If you trust in God, that would be your state of mind! It is your trust in the Lord that gives you that character quality. And not the other way around. When you trust in the Lord, your mind will be resolute, dutifully firm, and unwavering. Then inevitably you will have peace, His perfect peace. The peace God gives.
I recently experienced this peace. I took a stance in the office; I’d noticed a streak of irregularity in my line of work and didn’t hesitate to wipe it off! It brought raging resistance. I laughed. I knew what it was… it was darkness resisting light. After work, as I got back home and took the matter to the courts of heaven. And Lord showed up and brought an instant quiet to the situation.
The result was an inexplicable calming peace. Confidence that only the Lord could give because I chose to trust in God. Whenever you find yourself overwhelmed with staggering fear, look within, and ask yourself; where does my trust lie? Is it in the Lord? Because you see, if we say the Lord is our God and Lord of all, then He should be just that — Lord above all.
Today, put your trust in the Lord. And receive His perfect peace in spite of the raging storm. Amen.
Isaiah 26:3
You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast because they trust in you.
