Out of your little, give much.

Bible study requires discipline and the heart of a seeker. If we don’t take time to search the scriptures for ourselves, we will keep depending on others to feed us with spiritual truth. God prefers that we get to know Him for ourselves. As much as iron sharpeneth iron, do not forget that He draws nigh to those who draw nigh to Him first. I have taken time to copy and paste the verses of scripture from yesterday’s lesson. I feel it is important for us to meditate on them one after the other. “If you love me, keep my commandments,” Jesus says. So, lets learn more about the command to remember the poor. May the Lord stir our hearts to do as He has commanded in Jesus name.

What the Bible says about remembering the poor

Psalm 112:9 They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor, their righteousness endures forever; their horn will be lifted high in honor.

Proverbs 10:2 ill-gotten treasures have no lasting value, but righteousness delivers from death.

Proverbs 3:27 Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act.

James 1:27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

Proverbs 11:24 One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. 25 A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.

Proverbs 19:17 Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done.

Proverbs 28:27 Those who give to the poor will lack nothing, but those who close their eyes to them receive many curses.

Proverbs 37:21 The wicked borrow and do not repay, but the righteous give generously;

Proverbs 37:25 I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.

Psalm 41:1 Blessed are those who have regard for the weak; the LORD delivers them in times of trouble. 2 The LORD protects and preserves them— they are counted among the blessed in the land— he does not give them over to the desire of their foes.

Luke 14:14 and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”

Proverbs 19:17 Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and He will reward them for what they have done.
