Take a Break!

I totally love KitKat; it’s a teeny-weeny bit of heaven wrapped in red aluminum foil paper. The milky chocolate bar melts into your mouth, weaves its sweetness around your tongue and serenades you to slow subtle music. But that’s not what today is about. Today is about the famous KitKat slogan – have a break, have a KitKat.

Take! A! Break!

The strength of your spiritual life is directly proportional to how many spiritual breaks you take. Your relevance, authority and power as a Christian are directly proportional to the number of breaks you take. SIMPLE! I know God is in the noisy-busy rush-hour of our lives, but we would also agree that it’s terribly difficult to connect to God amidst all the noise. No sane man proposes or coos sweet love words to his lady in a busy crowded marketplace where she can barely hear him. If you want to find God and hear that still small voice, you need to take a break. Take a break just to be with God. Invite him on a date and then show up ready to give HIM a good time. Take a break at 5a.m. to speak to God. Take a minute lunch break at work just to tell the Almighty that He’s the best thing that ever happened to you. We all had 365 days last year, how many days did we take out just to be with God?

Jesus was always taking breaks to connect and re-connect to God. He left everything behind many times and went on a date with His father. It’s all well and good that you read It’s That Simple- but I’d rather you take a break to read God’s word; that’s where the power is. Take a break from social media and stop looking for shortcuts to God, because you won’t find any. Matthew 7:13-14 says, Don’t look for shortcuts to God.... The way to life—to God!—is vigorous and requires total attention. Take a break from worry, fear and anxiety. Take a break from chasing after this world and all that is in it. Take a break from yourself and pulling yourself down for every error, every sin and every mishap.

Take a break and just love up on God and who He is. Unlike a bar of Kit-Kat, God’s touch is more exciting, extra thrilling and longer lasting. With His pierced hands, He slowly sways you to an unending unchallenged harmony of sweetness and leaves the spice of eternity on your lips.

All I ask today is that you take a break.

Yours in love,

MOI
