"Go against the current..."

Our christian walk is a journey of risks albeit spread out intermittently along our live’s interactions. Or so it seems. You will find that at major crossroads and junctions of your life, you would require a certain dose of risk to get through to the next level. It may not occur everyday for you but you will surely get to risk taking if you will ever make major leaps in your life.

Risks that would involve cost, cost of time, the cost of commitment, the cost of discipline, and the cost of money and sacrifice. It is an ongoing chain of costs if you will be truthful to yourself. And it all began the day and moment you decided to take up your cross and follow Jesus. Because it is required that before you do that you MUST count the cost. Weigh it upon the scales, and be forewarned, the scales don’t have to tip in your favor.

So, in the days to come, I will be sharing — as is my custom to do — my personal experiences as it relates to risk taking. I would also be sharing something I read this morning while I waited on the Lord for clarity of the message He would have me share. It was an interesting process. Always is. I wanted to do a fast one and get past it but I couldn’t. Because first I had to get a theme for the month and then the images I select have to speak the language of the theme, and then the text… argghh! I knew there was no shortcut to this one. So I paused and searched my spirit.

Then it slowly floated to the surface… the word the Lord had planted in my spirit sometime around the middle of April. I heard “take risks.” The word was evident in the pattern my thoughts meandered around the spaces in my head. And in how conviction stirred within my belly. But I didn’t get to writing as soon as May closed in. I was still waiting for a super-duper word. Lol. But God is not like us. He is not a shifting shadow. And it is impossible for God to lie. So whilst I meditated, it wasn’t long before the word resurfaced — Take Risks! Then I went to the next step which usually is the scriptural reference for the speakings and whisperings in the wind of the Spirit to my spirit. I was good to go. Glad we are here now.

As you meditate on this message, take a look at the current happenings of your life. Where and how is God placing a demand for risk taking? Do not turn to the right nor to the left. Give it some thought, And then pray… "God give me courage to get through to the other side." The key word here is get through, not get past it or go around it. But go right through it. Amen.

Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
