Too busy... or too tired?

Lifeline by Adams Allison

My brother, Adams, wrote this in response to my cry-for-help email yesterday. And I thought to share it with us. Be blessed as you read.

When we have so much to do, when we are running late or even worse, when we have deadlines to keep and not enough time on hand, what do we do? More often than not, when we are in a fix like this, our default setting tends towards cutting down on time spent on things we deem are either of lesser priority, or of lesser urgency (even if the "less urgent" are of high priority) and therefore we postpone them to a later and more convenient time that might never come.  And so we cut down on time spent in front of the mirror or in the shower, we hop on a bike instead of taking a bus or driving. That's all well and good, except that this misnomer of 'time management' doesn't stop there, we go a step further and cut in on our time for devotion. We skip Bible reading and prayer, with the hope of a better end to our day. How ironic that we are willing to skip the very thing that connects us to divine short cuts and supernatural acceleration, and yet expect to resolve our hectic schedule for the better. (Maybe in the short run, but never in the long run). Sooner or later we run out of time's 'credit facilities', as we have no more future to borrow from and must pay our deficit of time spent or rather squandered on the less important things of life. Martin Luther said, "I have so much to accomplish today, therefore I will give myself to prayer for 3 hours." That's a man who has set his priorities right. He knew he couldn't afford to be too busy to pray. What about you? Are you too busy for the important things of life?

To busy to say, "I love you"?  Too busy to offer a word of prayer?  To busy to kiss your babies "good morning" and "good night"?  If you are, then you are too busy for life. Are you overwhelmed with work and deadlines, then it's time you picked up your lifeline - fellowship with God.
