Welcome to March!

Let’s stay alert and hear what the Lord will say to us. - Selah

I will be making a new addition to my mails henceforth. In 2014, I made a new friend through another mailing list. I was at a birthday party at Opebi, where I met some young men who attended Daystar Church. We got talking and then they told me about a devotional they share among a group of friends… I said I was interested and so was added to the list.

Many weeks later, a member on the list who lived in London shared a testimony of having been healed of cancer and how she was grateful for her ever consistent boyfriend (who later became her husband) for standing by her throughout rounds of chemo and also not minding her shaven head. Somehow I got to know through that mail that she too wrote a daily devotional. I immediately sent her a note in an email that I would like to be a part of her mailing list. And I was thoroughly blessed by the mails I read from the following day onwards.

In November 2016, Dolu (as she is fondly called) passed away. She didn’t survive the cancer. I remember my shock when I saw the post on FB. We had become friends over the last two years, so much so that she even asked me to make contributions to her devotionals every Wednesday. The news of her death shook me so hard, I wept. There were a zillion tributes from her readers, people who met her randomly, and family and friends alike. And almost everyone was blessed by “Its that Simple!”

In the days following her death, the Lord showed me a vision and in it I saw Dolu. She looked so frail but glowed in an extraordinary way, she also had very low cut. I exclaimed, “Dolu, You are alive!” Then she smiles and says to me, “Bukkie, I’m fine… I’m fine…” I knew the Lord was comforting me to say I shouldn’t be downcast, for He holds all things together. And that in Him we do not lose, we gain!

Yesterday I received an email from her husband, who (with the help of a team) had compiled all her devotionals into 4 volumes and then sent them out to those of us who had subscribed to It’s that Simple. As I read his email, I immediately made a promise to myself to share a piece of Dolu’s life every week here on this platform. That is the new addition I will be making. I hope that you are blessed by it.

Dolu’s life taught me a lesson after she passed. All the tributes spoke of a life that loved the Lord. Nothing more. And her life yet speaks volumes. Yesterday, I had a moment with the Lord, and in that moment I knew that I would have to make a decision to love the Lord and LIVE ONLY for the Lord. Nothing else matters. May the Lord fulfill His desires for us in this month of March. Amen.

James 4:14 Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Psalm 90:12 So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.
