Collecting heirlooms for God's Kingdom here on earth.
Before I left Abuja, I fell in love with these storage boxes from Hallmark. And I made sure I got some for myself. In them I have begun to place little pieces of precious little somethings that represent major milestones in our walk - my husband and I - with God the Shepherd. They would also include short notes and stories of major prayer points and testimonies about answered prayers. All of these we will store away for our children.
Including the gazillion notebooks I have filled out with daily experiences as journey with the father and confront my mountains and fig trees and storms upon the seas of life.
Deuteronomy 6:6-9
These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates.
Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads… What I see here are heirlooms. Heirlooms that represent the testimony of our God…heirlooms that represent milestones in our walk with God. And what better way to preserve these heirlooms than within the spaces of a memory box? Or within the pages of a journal? A journal that speaks of a life well lived.
What you are learning is not for your consumption alone. They are also for the generation that you have bred or would breed in the days to come. Parenting is God’s plan for posterity. Be a part of that plan. Buy some memory boxes and notebooks. Begin to gather milestones for your children to travel upon. Talk about the word and your journey with Word like their lives depend on it. For it surely depends on it. And if these little ones aren’t here yet, trust me it is a good way to prepare for them. May you find joy collecting heirlooms for the kingdom of our God and His Christ. Selah.
Deuteronomy 11:19-21
Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates, so that your days and the days of your children may be many in the land that the `lord swore to give to your ancestors, as many as the days that the heavens are above the earth.
