Mhenn it is not easy at all! Remember when I made three promises to myself? When I said I would resume writing columns for two of my magazine clients and also complete a short story that is long over due? Well, guess what…
It hasn’t been easy at all. It’s been tough! It feels like I’m dragging a truck uphill with my t-e-e-t-h!!! Why is discipline such a hard thing? Although I’ve managed to write frequently for my columns, I can’t say the same for the short story. I’ve tried to add a few paragraphs to what’s there but I still haven’t gotten the groove on. Hian!
Everyday I tell myself, today will be different and it actually turns out different but not without sooooo much effort. Whew! As in I have to push, and push and push. Like I were in labor, lol. But that’s a good thing right? I mean at least I’m trying. And I get the job down. I get to tick something off the calendar everyday. Except for that short story shaaa.
So how about you? What are you struggling with lately? Draggy project? Unsatisfied client? Writer’s block? Creative jam lock? Keep trying. Don’t give up. Don’t give in. If it isn’t flowing, then you got to push baby, p-u-s-h. John Maxwell says, (I paraphrase) don’t wait for inspiration before you do what you should be doing, just begin and inspiration will come.
There you go people. Just do it! No time for excuses. At least if that tells us anything at all, it would be that even promises (or resolutions) are not magic words. There is work to be done. And being inspired is an act of will!!!
Selah folks. There’s something to ponder upon for the weekend.
Galatians 6:9
So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. — NLT
